Welcome to the Wounded Knee Memorial Run web site. We hope this site helps to explain what the run is all about and gives you the information needed so you may join us on a very enjoyable and memorable run as we honor our ancestors who walked on before us.
To all of you who participated in the Wounded Knee Memorial Motorcycle Run this year. The Organizers of the run wish to apologize for any actions taken by the Organizers or others on the run which may have offended anyone by actions, words or deeds. Sometimes things get a bit crazy and things happen before they can be fully discussed or thought through. The incident that occurred with the 7th Calvary flag in Ft. Yates was not keeping in line with the intentions or mission of the run. At all times we must keep in mind that this run is for the memory or those ancestors who were at Wounded Knee during this tragic time and to help promote the healing process for those who feel the heartfelt sorrow the memory of this incident generates. In the future the Organizers will strive harder to keep this type of action from taking place and to keep the mission of the run in focus at all times. Again we wish to apologize for any pain and concern this may have caused anyone and sincerely hope it does not prevent anyone from participating in future runs.
The mission of the Wounded Knee Memorial Motorcycle Run is to preserve the memory of the innocent Lakota people who suffered and died at the Wounded Knee Massacre on December 29, 1890. We will honor the Ancestors through prayer and ceremony and by remembering their suffering and paying our respects. Informational programs throughout the Run will be presented by Descendents of the Wounded Knee Massacre bringing awareness to all people so healing and unity can be achieved.
